The first half of the course will focus on reading exemplary sketch comedy scripts, discussing what makes them work, and writing original pieces through writing prompts or designed exercises. The second half of the course will focus on each student writing, revising, casting, and directing an original comedy sketch in whichever style each student prefers. This is a writing-intensive course; be prepared to do a light amount of writing outside of class, as well as revisions based on peer and instructor feedback.
