About this Class

🌟 Elevate Your Performance with LONGFORM FUNDAMENTALS! 🌟 Formerly known as "Improv 401," this is Kismet improv's Level Three class (Advanced). It's time to turn your improv fundamentals into a show! This advanced class focuses on applying your skills to the stage and culminates in a 25-minute improv show inspired by a monologue. What to Expect: 🎭 Advanced Scenework Skills: Hone your ability to create compelling, believable, and emotional scenes. 🗣️ Expand Your "Yes-And" Techniques: Master the art of agreement and collaboration to build dynamic scenes. 🌟 Pull Inspiration: Learn to draw from various sources to inspire your performances. 🤝 Intermediate Improv Skills: Dive into side support, heightening, point-of-view, and game-of-the-scene. 🎉 Build a Comedy Show: Collaborate with your teammates to create a funny and cohesive performance. Prerequisites: Completion of first two levels of Kismet Improv Curriculum (fka Improv 101/201 and Improv 301). These classes cover the fundamentals of improv comedy and the two person scene. Showcase: SATURDAY Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. Instructor: Rebecca Thorndike-Breeze Rebecca has been improvising for many years, and started performing at Kismet since 2023, coaching and producing in 2024, and became Co-Owner and Artistic & Education Director in 2025. Rebecca currently performs on the yet-to-be named Kismet Resident Ensemble and directs Kismet's Saturday Feature, BIG DAY! Last season, you saw her on stage with house team PARENTHETICAL and coaching the Motif Spoken Award-winning musical improv team FREERANGE. As Kismet’s Co-Owner and Artistic & Education Director, she draws heavily on her professional background in collaborative pedagogy. Rebecca has trained at Improv Boston, Union Comedy, Kismet Improv, and iO Chicago.
