Kismet Improv

About this Class

SUNDAY July 27, 2-4 PM Dive into the heart of improv with our exciting workshop focused on 2-person scenes! Designed to prepare you for the upcoming house team auditions at Kismet Improv, this workshop is encouraged for those looking to sharpen their skills and shine on stage. Key Tenets Covered: • Active Listening: Learn to truly hear your scene partner and respond in the moment. • Emotional Honesty: Bring depth and truth to your characters to create compelling scenes. • Strong Initiations: Start your scenes with bold, clear choices that set the stage for success. • Supportive Play: Discover how to build a scene together, making your partner look good. • Dynamic Relationships: Explore the complexities of character relationships and how they drive the scene. Who Can Join? This workshop is open to anyone intending to audition for the 2025-26 season and who has completed some training in 2-person scenes (for example, you've completed Kismet's IMPROV 301, or equivalent elsewhere.) If you're ready to elevate your improv game and dazzle at auditions, this is the place to be! Instructor: Randy Miller (he/him) Randy Miller is an established improviser, coach, and teacher who trained at the renowned Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) theater in NYC. As a member of their advanced Academy Program, Randy honed his skills under the guidance of amazing coaches and gained independent training with various indie improv teams in New York. Randy has been a house performer at Kismet Improv since 2022. You can catch Randy actively performing and coaching teams at Kismet's Friday Night House Party, where previously performed with the Marquee Freeform. Additionally, he is the producer of Kismet's storytelling show, The Cicada. Beyond Kismet, Randy shares his love for improv by teaching adults with developmental disabilities at The Outsider Collective in Pawtucket, RI, and at the MAB Training and Rehabilitation Center in Westborough, MA, where he works with adults who have developmental disabilities, strokes, or other TBIs. Randy’s teaching philosophy is about trust—trusting yourself as a performer, trusting your teammates, and embracing the unknown in life and improv.
