Join us for Musical Improv 101 at Kismet! 🎶 Instructor: Kate McGroarty Kate McGroarty is a writer, performer, and director who has enjoyed over a decade of involvement with the performing arts in Chicago, Boston, and Rhode Island. Some of her favorite performances include sold-out runs with her Chicago-based sketch group Shanna’s Mom, music improv with groups Hidden Falls and One Night Only, and tenures on ImprovBoston’s Mainstage and National Touring Company. She is a graduate of the theater program at Northwestern University and the Music Improv Conservatory and Improv Conservatory programs at The Second City Training Center in Chicago. Kate directs Kismet's musical house team, THE POP HEARTS. MD: Kate Hardly Kate Hardly is a singer-songwriter and music director in Boston. Having honed her skills at Berklee College of Music and ImprovBoston, Kate's passion is blending musicality with comedy. From the subtle tongue-in-cheek lyrics in her studio albums to her laugh-out-loud antics on stage with THE VOID, she harmonizes the worlds of comedy and music. Kate's live musical accompaniments can be heard on Friday nights with THE POP HEARTS and throughout Kismet!

With a series of rotating shows, Kismet's commitment to keeping audiences rolling laughing has quickly made them a mainstay in Rhode Island's growing comedy hub. We also offer improv and comedy classes for all levels.

Our performers and teachers have trained nationwide. We proudly feature alumni from Second City, iO, Upright Citizens Brigade, ImprovBoston, Philly Improv Theater, Wage House and the Providence Improv Guild.
