About this Class

So you want to take an improv class but are unsure where to start? Well, you've come to the right place! In this intro, no-experience-necessary, we'll go over some basics of improv comedy, how to say "yes, and" and how to collaborate, support, and be creative as a team. While improv may seem like fun and games, much skill is involved. Improv requires quick thinking, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. This class will focus on getting you thinking in an "improv" way and give you a whole slew of skills you can take to the comedy stage, your workplace, or just spending time with your friends and family. On top of that, you'll work with a supportive instructor and group of classmates to build new, creative worlds together. Improv classes typically start with warm-ups to get your mind and body moving. Then you'll learn some basic improv concepts and games. The rest of the class will be spent practicing these skills in scenes and games. And at the end of class, you'll have a chance to show off your new improv skills in a performance! What are you waiting for? Join us for Improv 101 at Kismet! Instructor: Instructor: Zachary Ward During high school acting classes, Zachary discovered his passion for improv, finding joy in spontaneous scenes. Years later, his love for laughter drew him back to improv. Zach has trained at Kismet Improv, Rozzie Square Theater, Union Comedy, Improv Asylum, and Improv Boston. Zach performs with the indie team Bearskin Rug (RUGS!) in Somerville, MA, and frequently delights audiences with indie teams at Kismet Improv. His favorite aspects of improv are overcoming fear, embracing vulnerability, the camaraderie of performing, and the pure joy of making people laugh and have a great time. Catch Zach on Friday nights performing with VALKYRIE.
