ABOUT THE COURSE
In this workshop-based course, we will explore the many forms solo comedic performance can take, from character monologues to storytelling to sketches and more. Through writing prompts and exercises, students will create their own, original 5-10 minute comedy piece in the form/style of their choosing. We will workshop each piece through in-class performances and discussions. At the end of six week, students will perform their pieces on the Kismet stage.
Jake Goldman is a comedian and writer who has been performing onstage for the past two decades. Starting in New York, where he hosted comedy and storytelling shows at venues like RiFiFi and Comix, Jake found himself, years later, in Rhode Island, where there's a burgeoning comedy scene, and lots of wonderful, dedicated performers and teachers. His standup album can be found at jakegoldman.bandcamp.com and his book, Epic Jokes, can be found wherever books are sold.
